Daily Mail and Reuters report on Domestic Violence


The Daily Mail and Thomson Reuters Foundation have published an excellent report revealing the plight of immigrant women living under the shadow of domestic violence.

The piece looks at why women with irregular documentation status are afraid to report domestic violence to the police. It cites our research showing that while a woman is on average assaulted 35 times before first calling the police, this figure rises to 60 with the women we help who are considered undocumented.

“You have a partner who tells you all the time that if you leave or if you do anything, you’re going to be deported and the children will be taken away,” our former director Carolina Gottardo told Reuters.
