LATIN AMERICAN WOMEN’S RIGHTS SERVICE
VAWG Outreach and Prevention Coordinator
Three days per week

Salary: £27,550 per annum pro rata

 

LAWRS’ Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) programme offers a women-centred and culturally appropriate service delivering prevention work in the community, one-to-one casework, support and works to influence better services for Latin American women survivors of VAWG. We are seeking a VAWG Outreach and Prevention Coordinator to expand capacity to deal with increasing numbers of women seeking support over VAWG, undertake outreach activities and service delivery in specific boroughs; undertake education and prevention work with the community and continue developing LAWRS’ services to tackle “honour” based violence and other forms of VAWG experienced by Latin American women

You will have a minimum of two years’ experience in providing advice; experience providing advice to survivors of VAWG; experience of working in partnership with statutory and voluntary services in the UK, understanding of “honour” based violence and other harmful practices; an excellent understanding of the issues facing Latin American women in London and in particular survivors of VAWG and a commitment to promote and uphold women’s rights.  You will also be fluent in Spanish and English and ideally, you would also be able to speak Portuguese.

LAWRS’ Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) programme offers a women-centred and culturally appropriate service delivering prevention work in the community, with statutory services and with mainstream schools, one-to-one casework support and works to influence better services for Latin American Women survivors of VAWG. Part of our VAWG programme includes raising awareness with key statutory services about VAWG and ethnic minorities including on harmful practices.

We are seeking a VAWG Advocacy and Prevention Coordinator to: work with statutory and voluntary sector in target boroughs to increase awareness about VAWG and how it affects women from ethnic minorities; offer services off site in specific London boroughs and develop outreach activities in key London boroughs; undertake training and prevention work with the community and mainstream schools about VAWG including harmful practices; contribute to develop LAWRS’ services to tackle “honour” based violence and other forms of VAWG experienced by Latin American migrant women.

You will have a minimum of two years’ experience of providing training and/or advice on VAWG related issues (including harmful practices); excellent knowledge of statutory and voluntary services available to meet the needs of BAMER women survivors of VAWG in the UK; an excellent knowledge of different forms of violence facing women and girls including harmful practices; an excellent understanding of the issues facing Latin American women in the UK and in particular survivors of VAWG and a commitment to promote and uphold women’s rights. You will also be fluent in English and Spanish or English and Portuguese.

LATIN AMERICAN WOMEN’S RIGHTS SERVICE
Employment Rights Advisor
Part time: 7 hours per week
Salary: £12.24 per hour (+13% holiday pay)

 

We are seeking an advice worker who would be responsible for supporting women visiting LAWRS’ seeking legal advice in the area of employment rights. The post holder will provide users with information, advice, guidance and casework. Some activities will require telephone or email follow-up, and cases and enquiries should be recorded in our database, AdvicePro (experience using this database would be an advantage).

The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge of employment rights and a good understanding of the needs and circumstances of Latin American women in London’s labour market.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to resolve problems creatively. You will possess excellent spoken and written English and Spanish or English and Portuguese; writing and computer skills (Word and the internet for research purposes).

LAWRS busca contratar los servicios de una asesora con excelente conocimiento de derechos laborales en el Reino Unido. La asesora proporcionará información inicial, asesoramiento, orientación y tramitación de casos en el área de empleo a las usuarias de LAWRS. Algunas actividades requerirán seguimiento telefónico o por correo electrónico.

La candidata ideal deberá tener también una buena comprensión de las necesidades y circunstancias de las mujeres latinoamericanas en el mercado de trabajo de Londres, y poseer excelentes habilidades interpersonales, asi como también la capacidad de resolver problemas en forma práctica.

Es indispensable poseer buen conocimiento de inglés y castellano (el conocimiento del portugués es una ventaja). Asimismo, se busca que la asesora sea muy organizada y que tenga capacidad demostrada de realizar distintas tareas, trabajar bien en equipo y escribir en forma competente.

El rol requiere excelente conocimiento práctico de paquetes de computación (Word, Excel y PowerPoint), y la capacidad de usar herramientas de Internet para investigación.
