We aim to better the quality of life of Latin American elderly people living in London and to help them secure their rights and offer them much needed assistance.
The Project aims to support elderly women to assert their rights to dignified and independent lives.
What we do
Advice, information, casework support and advocacy for older Latin American women (55 yrs and over) who are living
in abusive situations, neglect, family problems, threatened with homelessness or experiencing problems where they live.
A weekly surgery is run from both the Latin American Elderly Project (LAEP) in Islington, North London and the Latin American Golden Years Day Centre (LAGYDC) in Lambeth, South London.
As part of our advice work we liaise with different housing providers, such as housing associations in order to open access to social housing and to offer practical and long term solutions for Latin American elderly community, as well as, our own contact networks and our therapy service to older people experiencing problems.
