If you think you are being abused, we can support you in stopping the abuse. Violence can take many forms and it is important to gain the courage to speak out. If your partner, a family member or someone you know is being controlling, making emotional threats, hiding money or papers from you, or being physically violent, LAWRS is here to help you take control.
LAWRS Violence Against Women prevention project offers advice, advocacy and practical support for Latin American women who are experiencing or have experienced any form of violence.
This consists of:
Telephone and face-to-face advice and caseworkAdvocacy to secure legal protection, rights and entitlements Securing safe and emergency accommodation Referrals to our own therapy, welfare, employment and language support servicesInforming you of your rights
LAWRS work with trusted lawyers, refuges, health and other services to secure specialist support for all Latin American women, regardless of their status, income, age or sexuality.
LAWRS runs events, workshops and can inform you of your rights to living free from violence.

Our users can obtain advice without prior appointment every MONDAY morning.
Arrive by 9am to secure your place.
Only 15 places are available.
Places depend on staff availability.
Classes are free for Latin American women beginners.
Timetable: Every Wednesday and Thursday from 10:45am - 12:45am
LAWRS also provides useful workshops, tranining sessions and talks for our members.

We focus on meeting the needs, both immediate and long term, of women affected by poverty and abuse.
We offer advice, advocacy, information and counselling services in a personalised, confidential and impartial manner. All our services are free and in Spanish and Portuguese.
